Privacy Policy

Goodminton ("we", "the app") is a badminton tracking application built by Goodminton Club. This policy explains what we collect and your rights.

What we collect

On your device (never sent to our servers): rackets, strings, tensions, matches, scouting notes, dates, logs, XP, and cards you enter. This data is stored locally in the app's database (SQLite) and never leaves your device unless you explicitly export or share it.

Social account data (stored on our servers, only if you create a social account): When you sign in with Apple or Google to use social features (friends, play groups, ladders, tournaments, compliments), we store on our backend: your profile (display name, handle, and the email address from your sign-in provider), your friends, the groups/ladders/tournaments you join, match results you report, and compliments you send or receive. This data is linked to your account. You can delete all of it — see "Your rights" below and goodminton.club/delete-account. If you do not create a social account, none of this applies.

Purchases (only if you buy a membership): Payment is processed by Apple or Google; we never see your card details. Our subscriptions provider records your subscription/purchase status so we can grant membership features.

Anonymous usage analytics (sent to PostHog):

• A randomly-generated device ID (not linked to your name, email, or phone number)
• App version, OS, device model
• Anonymous events: app opens, screens viewed, creation counts, feature usage, errors
• Approximate country (derived from IP at request time; we do not store IPs)

We do not collect: your phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or any health/fitness data. (If you create a social account, we do receive the email and display name from your Apple/Google sign-in, as described above.)

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
• We do not show ads.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not use your data to train machine-learning models.

EU/UK users: PostHog and Sentry process data in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses. If you require EU-region processing, contact kevinliu217@gmail.com before installing.

Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR / CCPA)

• Access (Art. 15): on-device data via Settings → Privacy & Data → "Export my data" (instant JSON). For your server-side social account data or analytics, email kevinliu217@gmail.com from your account email; response within 30 days.
• Erasure (Art. 17): on-device data via Settings → "Delete all local data" (instant). Your entire social account (all server-side data) via Settings → "Delete account" in the app, or goodminton.club/delete-account; completed within 30 days. Analytics deletion via email request.
• Portability (Art. 20): "Export my data" emits a structured JSON snapshot.
• Rectification (Art. 16): edit any record directly in the app.
• Opt out (Art. 21 / CCPA): Settings → toggle off "Send anonymous analytics." Effective immediately.
• Complaints: EU residents may contact their DPA (edpb.europa.eu); UK residents ico.org.uk.

Children

Goodminton is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We'll update this page and the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be announced in the app's changelog.
